Year: 2021
Location: Tamarama
Materials: 16mm mild steel plate
Project Duration (3D modelling, Fabrication & Installation): Approx 12 weeks
Architect: ROAR

This was a difficult and testing project. This required the installation of over 9 tonnes of 16mm plate into a house that was near completion. The client commissioned MAM Engineering directly. This was due to the previous contractor abandoning the project after realising the complexity of the balustrade. The plates are set 10mm off the side of the gyprock covering the stairs. The detail is to create the illusion of the panels being independent of the stairs and hence floating adjacent to the structure. The completed concrete stair was 3D scanned and modelled internally to focus on critical junctions and consistent shadow lines to gyprock finishes.
